“Crossing Borders” with Laura Kamis Wrang
Sunday August 1st at 7:30 pm
Newman Wine Vaults, Water Street
$12 (seating limited to 50 people)
"Crossing Borders" is the story of Denmark’s Laura Kamis Wrang and her family, told travelling across borders and while drinking tea. Join Laura as she remembers her grandmother’s Russian samovar and strong tea drunk with rock candy, and her grandfather’s Syrian heritage in the tents of the nomads where sweet mint tea was served. Journey with her through England and tea served with milk or lemon and ginger snaps, scones and clotted cream with strawberries; and through Spain where the tea is scented with orange blossoms and sweetened with orange honey. A multi-sensory exploration of family, travel, and personal history, complete with teas served by Newfoundland’s own Kelly Jones, The Tea Lady, of Britannia Teas and Gifts.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at Britannia Teas and Gifts located at 199 Water St. in St. John’s. Sponsored by the St. John’s Storytelling Festival, Inc.
This show is wheelchair accessible.
