Storytelling Conference Transportation In and Around St. John's

I've had a few questions about transportation in and around St. John's. If you are arriving by air, the best way to get to the university residences is by taxi. There is no bus that will take you from the airport to the university.

Info on taxi rates can be found here, on the airport website:

Taxi cabs queue outside the Arrivals Area. A taxi dispatcher is available to assist you. A cab to the university should run you about $18-$20. There is an ATM at the airport if you need Canadian cash.

If you are arriving late, and are staying at the university, you are responsible for checking with the university about where and when to get the keys to your room.

Taxis in St. John's are pretty easy to find, and for a fee, some companies will drive you around for the afternoon, taking to the sites for a fixed rate. The easiest thing is just to check the yellow pages when you arrive, or ask around.

If you haven't rented a car, and expect to do so, wear your lucky rabbit's foot. It is notoriously difficult to rent a car last minute.

Local bus information is online at:
http://www.metrobus.com

And yes, the trip to Cupids and Brigus on Saturday is included in your conference fee. If you miss the bus Saturday morning, however, it is a VERY long walk!
