We also knocked 'em dead at the Story Slam last night. We had 9 slammers (plus yours truly, the sacrifical lamb) and the stories ranged from improvised accounts of Junior High life to a full-on recitation of a berry-picking war. The winner of the $150 prize was Dave Paddon, with a recitation that ended with things in a bit of a jam. Congratulations to Dave and to all the other slammers!
Now that we've covered last night, let's move on to tonight.
IMPORTANT: There was an error in our program, admission for tonight's event is $10 not $3. (That's the admission for a regular storytelling circle night, hence the mistake .)

The St. John's Storytelling Festival is pleased to present a special one-night performance by Dutch-Canadian storyteller Petronella Van Dijk, who will be sharing a set of moving stories set in Holland during and after the tumultuous years of the Second World War. ...And what better place to do so than the Crow's Nest? After friends convinced her to become a teller herself in 2000, Petronella has told in Canada, Cuba, Europe, and in her native Netherlands. She mostly tell folktales from around the world, but also tells war-time stories, to inspire peace. An accomplished storyteller in English, French, Spanish, and Dutch, Petronella is the heart and soul of Productions Littorale.
(Note: Petronella's performance will replace the regular open-mic storytelling circle for March only, as part of the St. John's Storytelling Festival. Admission is $10 per person, payable at the door, with limited seating. Regular open mic sessions return in April.)
